Under the guidance of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP), on 24 April 2011, the Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology Quy Nhon (IMPE Quy Nhon) in coordination with the Provincial Health Department of Gia Lai held the launching ceremony on propagating "World Malaria Day 25 April" of the Central Vietnam in Kpaklong Park - Chu Se district, Gia Lai province.
This World Malaria Day 2011, the Roll Back Malaria (RBM) Partnership has adopted the theme Achieving Progress and Impact to celebrate the successful results of these past efforts but also highlight the significant challenges that still remain and emphasise how much more must be done to reach near zero deaths by 2015.
On April 22nd, 2010, the launching ceremony on propagating "World Malaria Day 25 April" of the Central Vietnam was held in Thua Thien-Hue province. Participating the launching ceremony, Dr. Tran Cong Dai, expert of WHO in Vietnam warned the risk of malaria return in 2010 and also emphasized that "World Malaria Day 25 April" was the starting point for rolling back malaria campaign.
Malaria situation tended to increase highly on a large scale, even risk of malaria outbreaks. To respond the World Malaria Day 25 April with the target "Counting Malaria Out", the provinces of Central Vietnam carried out the malaria control campaign for 2010 to reduce rate of morbidity and death from malaria; especially to prevent the outbreaks from occuring.
