The survey of private health facilities in Gia Lai
1. Remark: There are 1 private general hospital, making up 3.33% in total, 2 private general clinics (6.66%), 27 private internal medicine clinics (90%), included: -The education level, sex and average age of 30 heads of private health facilities in the model. Remark: All of heads of private health facilities have the standard of doctor. There are 21 men (70%) and 9 women (30%); the average age is 50.3, among them the oldest person is 67 years old, the youngest person is 32 years old. - The average working time of the health facilities is 7.5 years. The longest health facility is the internal medicine clinic of Dr. Kim Xoa in 27 Tran Phu district, Pleiku city, Gia Lai province, which was established in 1984; and 4 internal medicine clinics was established at the first year of 2016. - The number of doctors, nurses and staff are in health facilities in the model Table 4: The number of staff are in 30 health facilities in the model

Remark: The total of staff of 30 health services included 371, with 112 doctors (30.20%) and other staff. Hoang Anh Gia Lai General Hospital has the largest number of staff, with 240 staff (64.7%), among them 50 doctors (44.6% of total of doctors). - In the survey of 30 health services, there was only Hoang Anh Gia Lai General Hospital having antimalarial drugs such as ACT, Chloroquin, Primaquin, making up 3.33% compared with that other 29 clinics which there was no antimalarial drugs (making up 96.67%). Remark: In 30 private health facilities of the model, there was 1 clinic having examination technology for malaria parasites by microscopes or rapid diagnostic tests, making up 3.33%; 6 clinics having microscopes but no rapid diadnostic tests; 23 clinics having no examination technology for malaria parasites, making up 76.6%. - one private health facilitys has malaria diagnosis and treatment guidelines according to the 2013 Ministry of Health's therapy, accounting for 3.33% of the total surveyed facilities, 29 private health facilities don't have guideline, accounting for 96.67%. - All of private health facilities haven't attended any training course on malaria diagnosis and treatment, accounting for 100%. - one private health facility has reports on malaira cases, accounting for 3.33%, Hoang Anh Gia Lai General Hospital reported to Pleiku city's Malaria Control Centre, 29 remaining facilities are mosthly internal medicine specialized clinics and haven't had any reports on malaria cases, accounting for 96.67% of the total 30 surveyed facilities. - 100% facilities proposed the method of reporting through the email model and reporting according to the 54 circular of the Ministry of Health. 2. Results of the malaria case reports and management of the private health facilities. 2.1. Malaria case report, weekly report, monthly report situations of the facilities. Remark: Of the 30 facilities that participated in the model from July to December 2016, 20 facilities have weekly and monthly reports, accounting for 66.66%. And 10 facilities don't have weekly and monthly reports, accounting for 33.33%. Remark: All the facilities that have reports chose to report through email, accounting for 100%. 3. Conclusion 3.1. Survey on the private health facilities that participated in the model - 30 private health facilities of Pleiku city, Gia Lai province were surveyed. - All of the private health facilities that participated in the malaria case management and statistics model agreed to join the model. - All of the private health facilities chose to report through email and reporting according to the circular No.54 of the Ministry of Health. 3.2. Results of cases management and cases report of the facilities - In the pilot time, 1 facility detected the malaria patient and treated and reported this case prior to 24h, accounting for 100%. - Of the total 30 facilities that participated in the model, 20 facilities have weekly and monthly reports, accounting for 66.66%. - Of the total 20 facilities that have reports, 18 facilities have weekly, monthly reports in accordance with the prescribed time, accounting for 90%. - Of the 20 facilities that have reports, all of them reported weekly and monthly through email, accounting for 100%. 4. Recommendations - Maintain the cases reports, weekly reports, monthly reports in the private health facilities in order to manage malaria cases more closely - Provincial Department of Health should issue Decision on malaria case report for the local private health facilities and reporting due to the circular No.54 of the Ministry of Health.
