Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), với tên gọi trước đây là Campylobacter pylori là một vi khuẩn gram âm, siêu ái khí (microaerophilic bacterium) tìm thấy trong dạ dạy. Tác nhân này được xác định vào năm1982 bởi các nhà khoa học Úc là Barry MarshallRobin Warren, trên các bệnh nhân có biểu hiện viêm dạ dày mạn tính và loét tiêu hóa.

Các tình trạng như thế trước đây người ta không nghĩ đến là do tác nhân vi sinh vật. Tác nhân vi khuản này còn liên quan đến vấn đề loét tá tràng và ung thư dạ dày. Song, 80% cá nhân nhiễm vi khuẩn này lại không hề biểu hiện triệu chứng đưa ra vấn đề nghiên cứu thêm về sinh thái học dạ dày một cách tự nhiên. Hơn 50% dân số thế giới nhiễm vi khuẩn H. pylori ở đoạn tiêu hóa trên. Nhiễm trùng có xu thế cao hơn các quốc gia đang phát triển và có hướng giảm tại các quốc gia phương tây. Hình ảnh xoắn của H. pylori được xem là yếu tố thuận lợi cho vi khuẩn xâm nhập xuyên qua lớp niêm mạc dạ dày. Mày đay là một trong những triệu chứng phổ biến của bệnh lý da gây ra bởi nhiều tác nhân, kể cả vi khuẩn. Khoảng 50% dân số thế giới bị nhiễm loại vi khuẩn Helicobacter pylori như một vi khuẩn nhiễm trùng phổ biến ở người. H. pylori gây nên một loạt các bệnh lý ngoài đường tiêu hóa. Rối loạn da là một ví dụ qua một số nghiên cứu trước đây có liên quan đến mày đay mạn tính, trứng cá đỏ, vẩy nến, hội chứng Sjögren, ban xuất huyết Henoch-Schönlein, xơ hóa hệ thống, viêm da cơ địa, bệnh Behcet, liken phẳng. Trong những năm gần đây, nhiều nhà nghiên cứu tập trung nghiên cứu đánh giá mối liên quan giữa vi khuẩn Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) với bệnh lý mày đay mạn tính.  
 

Nhiễm trùng H. pylori là một nguyên nhân quan trọng nhất gây nên bệnh lý loét tiêu hóa và mô hình liên quan đến mày đay với nhiễm loài tác nhân này là có thể đưa ra. Nhiều nghiên cứu vì thế đã tiến hành làm về mối liên quan giữa H.pylori và nhiều bệnh lý mạn tính khác như mày đay, chậm phát triển trẻ em, u lympho ở dạ dày và một số ung thư trên cơ quan tiêu hóa. Một số nghiên cứu đã hỗ trợ cho cùng cơ chế miễn dịch dị ứng liên quan đến bệnh lý mày đay mạn tính và loét tiêu hóa. Trên nhiều ca bệnh, mày đay và phản ứng dị ứng có thể do nhiễm trùng H. pylori và điều trịthích hợp nhiễm trùng H. pylori có thể khống chế tình trạng mạn tính mày đay này. Trong nghiên cứu này, chúng tôi xác định tỷ lệ các kháng thể chống lại H. pylori bằng ký thuật huyết thanh học trên các nhóm bệnh nhân mày đay mạn tính và người khỏe mạnh và so sánh với các số liệu nghiên cứu khác về mối liên quan giữa nhiễm trùng H. pylori với mày đay mạn tính.

Trên nhiều ca bệnh, mày đay và phản ứng dị ứng có thể do nhiễm trùng H. pylori và điều trị thích hợp nhiễm trùng H. pylori có thể khống chế tình trạng mạn tính mày đay này. Trong nghiên cứu này, chúng tôi xác định tỷ lệ các kháng thể chống lại H. pylori bằng ký thuật huyết thanh học trên các nhóm bệnh nhân mày đay mạn tính và người khỏe mạnh và so sánh với các số liệu nghiên cứu khác về mối liên quan giữa nhiễm trùng H. pylori với mày đay mạn tính.
