The A/H5N1 avian influenza has been detected at fowl farms of some households in Hoa Long Commune, the northern province of Bac Ninh; Central Da Nang city has launched a series of preventive measures to prevent the outbreaks of H7N9 avian influenza in the city.

Vietnam would place itself in a scenario in which human bird flu infections could has been detected so as to take drastic actions to prevent the intrusion of avian influenza viruses that are raging in next-door neighbour China, said Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long.

The Ministry of Health has warned of the possible intrusion of avian influenza A (H7N9) into Vietnam as the virus is raging in neighbouring China and Cambodia. Provinces of Lai Chau, Nam Dinh and HCM City are making efforts to curb outbreaks of avian flu virus.

The Ministry of Health has promulgated an action plan to prevent A/H7N9 avian flu outbreaks in Vietnam, with the focus placed o­n early detection, timely treatment and limiting death toll. The plan sets out four scenarios as well as suitable actions for relevant agencies to promptly deploy.

President Tran Dai Quang urged the health sector to continue reforms to provide better health care to all in Vietnam.
