Vietnamese Expert Delegation visiting and sharing experience in malaria control in Thailand
With the agreement of the executive committee of Vietnam Global Fund Malaria Control Project, the leaderships and experts of the National Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology (NIMPE), IMPE-Quy Nhon, IMPE-Ho Chi Minh city and the leaders of the provincial centres of Malaria Control/Preventive Medicine of Bac Can, Ha Tinh, Phu Yen, Bac Lieu had 7-day visit to Thailand to work and share experience in malaria control. In 7 days of visiting Thailand, the representatives listened the reports of Dr. Wichai Satimai, Director of Vector-borne Diseases Control Office, Ministry of Heath of Thailand on malaria situation and control activities in Thailand, antimalarial medicine policy, sensitivity supervision, studies on vector control applications, epidemiological surveillance activities, health communication and education; experience in malaria control for mobilised populations along Thai - Burmese - Cambodian border. Especially, the representatives listened their experience in activities of the special epidemic control team and early epidemic prediction system in Thailand which are sponsored by the Global Fund.

The representatives visited and shared experience in treatment of malaria and severe malaria in Department of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok (Thailand). The delegation also had a field trip to Kanchanaburi province where had highest annual rate of malaria morbidity in Thailand, worked with Centre for Vector-borne Diseases Control, visited and discussed the diagnosis and treatment of malaria at SoiYok district hospital.

After 7 days in Thailand, the visiting tour ended up successfully. The mission delegation had left deep impression on the staff and leaderships of Thailand. On behalf of the representatives, Dr. Nguyen Van Chuong, Director of IMPE-Quy Nhon thanked the Ministry of Health of Thailand, the executive committee of Vietnam Global Fund Malaria Control Project and the friendly country-Thailand for facilitating this mission trip.
